Creativity is the practice of making meaning.

About the JourneyPen Project

The JourneyPen Project is a collection of content aimed at helping people of all ages engage with their creativity in a way that supports their emotional and physical wellbeing.

For example, this often includes anchoring into the stories that we’re living just as much as the stories we’re writing.

Many areas of this website are under renovation, but there’s still some helpful stuff available under the “Learn” tab.

About Shelby

After three years and over 50,000 miles of wandering, Shelby Bach is getting to know her rooted self, freshly moved to Cooper Mountain (outside of Portland, OR). She is the author of The Ever Afters series and still working on her next novel. In that process, she has learned a lot about creativity, culture, herself, and the natural world.

She doesn’t plan to take eight years to finish one book again, but she likes all that she has learned along the way. Shelby has started to share some of this in the following endeavors:

The JourneyPen Project, which you’re visiting now.

Soul Story Adornment, an Etsy shop and an experiment in revitalizing our relationship with nature. But if you just like one of the necklaces or bracelets, that’s cool too. You can find it here.

{Coming Soon} I Shall Be | On the Side of Life, a collection of content aimed at understanding and tending our shared cultural scars. Shelby’s current work in progress was inspired by watching the documentary, Blackfish, and asking myself, “How did we get to the point as a society where we are driving other intelligent beings insane?”

Though the novel isn’t complete, Shelby has learned some things by reading and listening widely around this topic.
