Creativity and the Cosmos
Your natal chart is an astrological snapshot of what the skies looked like at the moment of your birth. Bronwyn Simons, one of my astrological mentors, describes this as an indicator of your “natal promise,” and it gives potent insight into where to find—and eventually embody—your greatest potential.
Where most astrology sessions focus on the big three (i.e. your sun sign, moon sign, and rising/ascendant sign), this approach* examines your whole chart: the major planets in our solar system, the nodes, the angles, and up to three asteroids. We consider the “ages” of these celestial bodies, based on their degree, and this gives us a powerful indication of how an aligned process unfolds in your life. The sun, for example, will activate each of these points in this same order every time it passes through a sign of the zodiac.
In our session together, which takes place over Zoom, we uncover a new layer of self-knowledge that helps you trust your own process.
*The approach was first demonstrated to me by Leslie Tagorda, founder of the Astrobrand method, and later taught to me by Bronwyn Simons, another one of my mentors. This method originated from Anne Ortelee, who developed it influenced on her background in software; she calls it “the Pinball Technique.”

Our personal astrology can reveal an aligned creative process.
In our session together, we uncover a new layer of self-knowledge that helps you trust the process that’s already your own.
What’s included in a session?
My research on your chart, applying methodology to the major planets in our solar system, the nodes, the angles, and up to three asteroids. (You have option to name your favorite asteroids, but if you don’t yet have any favorites, I will identify those that appear to have the most importance.)
If you would like me to research more asteroids or other celestial entities, that option is available as an add-on when you complete your booking.
A one-on-one appointment over Zoom, approximately 90 minutes long. It will be recorded so that you can return to it again and again, allowing you to absorb more each time you revisit it.
A follow-up PDF, which includes distilled information for easy reference—basically, an astrological cheat sheet tailored for your personal use.

I combine this astrological methodology with my own background in creativity.
Though I’m highly creative in many mediums, I’m most experienced with writing. I have over twenty-five years of writing experience, because I started writing novels at age ten. By my twenty-ninth birthday, I’d published a four-book series with Simon and Schuster Books for Young Readers.
When I started studying astrology, I applied this same astrological method to my own chart, and it personally changed my life. I discovered that at 3° Capricorn, Neptune is my “youngest” planet and at 27° Leo, Mercury is my “oldest.” Basically, Neptune starts my process, and Mercury ends it.
This completely validated my experience of my own creativity: An idea hits me first, almost fully formed, like a wave of information descending on me while my mind and body struggles to keep up (that’s my baby Neptune). It often takes me quite a while to bring that idea to fruition, but once I choose to share it with others, the idea has grown into something polished and potent, mature enough to inspire others (that would be my grown-up Mercury).
This is echoed in what happened with my first published novel, the beginning of my four-book series: one night in late July 2009, I couldn’t sleep, because my brain was flooded with ideas about an afterschool that trained young fairy tale characters. The first book in that series pubbed in late July 2012; the fourth and final title in that series came out at the end of June 2015. The final scenes of that book were exactly as I imagined, almost exactly six years earlier.
Since then, I have been writing another novel, the same one since Fall 2015. The pace is much slower, and for much of that time, I grew increasingly frustrated with my slow progress.
Then I applied this technique, and I looked at it all from a different lens: Even with my first series, my process took a long time, but the young readers who loved the books continue to reread the series to this day, enjoying the story and its characters all over again. I have the same hope for the next book, and my astrological investigations have enabled me to trust that hope.
For me, a slower process means a more potent product—provided that no matter how long it takes, I hold to my original vision.

To help you know what to expect, here is what happens for every Creativity and the Cosmos Session:
a) You book your appointment through this website.
b) I’ll send you a Google Form questionnaire.
c) You fill it out at least 24 hours in advance of our appointment, which gives me time to examine your natal chart and determine what astrological transits may be currently impacting your situation.
d) We meet together over Zoom.
• You bring yourself. I bring your natal chart and my research around the dates you’ve provided.
• Unless you would really prefer that we didn’t, I record the session so that you can review + rewatch later. That way, you don’t feel like you need to take notes.
e) After the session, I send you the recording and the follow-up PDF.

Yes.
You must know your birth date and birth place. Birth time is extremely helpful, but it’s not absolutely required with my methods for this offering.
You must have an open mind about astrology (no experience with it with required though).
If you’re missing any of these ingredients, then this offering isn’t the best fit for you. You might explore other offerings at the JourneyPen Project.

Yes, you definitely need to be eighteen or older.
If you’ve gotten to know Shelby Bach through The Ever Afters, and/or if you’re still a young student, that’s fabulous—this offering probably won’t serve you as much as others will.
