What kind of astrology do you use?
I approach astrology as a sleuth and a storyteller.
I match what you tell me about your current situation with your natal astrology and with what is currently happening in the sky. Then I look for exact dates in your past which your astrology highlights as significant moments in your life (often called “transits”).
During the session, I ask you about these dates, and together, we discover how these events fit into the larger story of your life. We then use this knowledge to discuss how you can best navigate your current challenges.
We use the planets and the stars as guides to look at the old chapter, which allows you to write the most aligned new chapter possible.

Clarity
1f you’re in a murky situation, it’s only natural for you to look for clarity. Clarity can help anchor you while you face what you’re facing.
Creativity
I define creativity as the practice of making meaning. In this session, I collaborate with you to make fresh meaning out of your situation. Sometimes, we also talk about creative projects you’re trying to bring into the world.
The Cosmos
In my personal experience, I find much more clarity on my murkiest situations if I dig into the astrology of the situation. Often, I discover that an outer planet has been activating my natal chart for a while, and once I integrate what has happened, I’m able to move forward, rooted in a new self-understanding of how this situation fits into my life story.

What’s included in a session:
An appointment over Zoom, approximately 90 minutes long, recorded so that you can return to it again and again and learn more each time.
A Pathway, which is a follow-up PDF with more information, which I personalize based on what we discuss during the session. This may include related dates to investigate for deeper insight and/or questions designed to help you work with your natal astrology, which you can use again and again as a card spread or journal prompts.
The Clarity of knowing more about how you can align with your own ever-evolving life story.

To help you know what to expect, here is what happens for every Creativity, Clarity, and the Cosmos Session:
a) You book your appointment through this website.
b) I’ll send you a questionnaire.
c) You fill it out at least 24 hours in advance of our appointment, which gives me time to examine your natal chart and determine what astrological transits may be currently impacting your situation.
d) We meet together over Zoom.
• You bring yourself. I bring your natal chart and my thoughts based on your questionnaire, which we use as a jumping off point.
• Unless you would really prefer that we didn’t, I record the session so that you can review + rewatch later. That way, you don’t feel like you need to take notes.
e) After the session, I send you follow-up materials: your chart and some prompts to help help you work more easily with some of the challenging astrological transits we’ve discovered.
f) If you’ve chosen to buy a bracelet, necklace, and/or JourneyPen Voice letter as an add-on, I make one based on what we’ve discussed in the session, and I send it/them to you.

- You must know your birth date, birth time, and birth place.
- You must have an open mind about astrology (no experience with it with required though).
If you’re missing any of these ingredients, then this offering isn’t the best fit for you. You might explore other offerings at the JourneyPen Project.

The Touchstone Sessions are best suited when you already know what change is at your feet. You understand the bigness of the step you’re taking, and you want to collaborate with me to unpack what’s happening under the surface. We may use some astrology, but it’s not central to our discussion in the same way. Together, we craft fresh meaning as an unshakable foundation for your next steps so that you feel rooted and supported in your change.
The Clarity, Creativity, and the Cosmos sessions are best suited when you’re in a murky middle of some kind. We look at astrology—your natal chart and the transits currently unfolding at the sky—to shed light on the themes at play. Since creativity is the practice of making meaning, and astrology is one way of making meaning, we inevitably talk about creativity. This usually includes talking about the hidden ways creativity may be showing up in your situation.

Communication between you and Shelby is limited to the questionnaire before the session(s), emails about scheduling, and the one-on-one Zoom session(s). Additional communication between you and Shelby is provided only through the JourneyPen Voice Letters, which is available as an add-on. Textual support, social media messaging, email, and other forms of communication are not included.
There are two reasons behind this:
1) The one-on-one sessions are designed to provide support while also nurturing your creative independence. You are supported in making your own meaning in the session so that with the unshakable meaning you’ve made, you feel supported and nourished—even when you’re alone at your desk in the midst of your own creative process.
2) All JourneyPen offerings are also designed to allow Shelby space and capacity to continue creating on her own. Writing books, crafting classes, and creating other content requires time, energy, and other resources, which doesn’t allow her to be available outside of the containers she already offers.
